Does Intel core i9 worth buying?

Does Intel core i9 worth buying?

Are you thinking to buy the best and the most powerful processor? Yes, it is Intel core i9. But, the question is- does it justify its heavy price? Does it worth spending such a heavy amount for your computer CPU? Let’s discuss-

Hey guys, I am Jyotirmoy and you can subscribe (completely free) this blog you if you are interested in gaming or PC building.

In this post, I am gonna discuss about Intel Core i9 in three categories. They are it’s price, performance, and benchmark. So, let’s see if it really justify its price-

  • Price.
  • Performance.
  • Gaming benchmark.

Under $500, Intel Core i9 9900K is considered as the best processor for gaming available in the market till now. The actual price of it is $499.99.

However, if you buy an older generation of i9, you may get it much cheaper than it, but you can’t get 3.6GHz clock speed with the older versions.

If we compare the price of this processor with others, like Ryzen 9, which is available around $499. So, we can see the price difference between these two CPUs are not that big and in sales, you can also buy them at a discounted price.

But now you are thinking and I don’t recommend Ryzen 9 in place of Intel Core i9. Because Ryzen 9 can’t give the same amount performance i9 can give. Moreover, core i9 also comes with some really beneficial features which you can’t get in R9.

Talking about the overclocking, i9 is the best CPU that can be overclocked to an extreme level to pull out maximum performance from it. According to computer experts, Intel Core i9 9900K is the best gaming CPU so far and believe me, as I have personally used it, I can assure that it is a beast.

Although, the price of this CPU is a little bit higher compared to other CPUs in the market, it completely worth buying. Since to get the best results you always have to invest a heavy amount (especially in gaming computer).

Its Performance:

Since Intel Core i9 and Ryzen 9 are the direct competitors, so it will be better to compare the performance of both of these CPUs to get desired results.

The base clock speed of i9 CPU is 3.6GHz which can be boosted up to 5GHz by overclocking it. While the Ryzen 9 CPU can give 3.8GHz frequency that can be boosted up to 4.6GHz.

Of course, the difference between the frequency is not huge, but it really impacts a lot. And also, the overclocking capacity of Intel core i9 is better than Ryzen 9 but make sure to use a good cooling system.

Since i9 is a high-end CPU, that’s why it is obvious that it produces heat while it is overclocked. That’s why make sure to use a good and powerful cooling system before buying any high-end PC part.

But, intel Core i9 comes with 8 Cores and 16 threads which is fewer than AMD Ryzen 9. Yes, R9 has 12 cores and 24 threads. But, it doesn’t mean that Intel Core i9 less powerful than Ryzen 9.

Obviously, these threads and Cores help you and give you boosted performance in tasks like video rendering, 3D animation, shortening the time of loading windows in different games, etc.

But, in case if gaming, the computer doesn’t use the whole CPU cores and threads al tougher. That’s why the capability/power of each core matters. Let’s simplify it with an example-

Let’s imagine two machines, one with have eight hands but they aren’t too strong and another with four hands but they are really strong

Now, both of them are given a task which needs only two hands. Now, the machine with four hands can obviously perform much better than the other.

Like this, in PC games or in most of the cases, software, games don’t need every Core, rather capability of each cores matters.

And in terms of single-core performance, Core i9 can easily beat Ryzen 9. That’s why it is favorite of all gamers.

But, the higher Cores and threads also matter in video rendering, 3d modeling or other things like that. Surely, they also have their own value. In the future, games use more cores and threads, so R9 will be a good future proof CPU.

Overall, in performance wise also, Intel Core i9 can beat it’s biggest rival i.e. Ryzen 9 and that’s why it completely worth buying.

Benchmark in multiple games:

In this category, I am gonna test this CPU to run different games and let’s see its performance in 1080P and 4K resolution.

Since with a good CPU, we also need a good GPU and RAM, the specs which are used for this testing-

  • CPU- Intel Core i9 9900K.
  • GPU- Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080Ti.
  • RAM- 16GB 32GB g.skill.

You can check the price of these parts from the link.

Now, let’s see how better performance it can give in games-

Battlefield V:

ResolutionFrame per second
1080P Ultra190 fps
4K Ultra 85 fps

Resolution Frame per second
1080P Ultra 150 fps
4K Ultra 85 fps

Shadow of the Tomb Raider:

Resolution Frame per second
1080P Ultra140 fps
4K Ultra 70 fps

ResolutionFrame per second
1080P Ultra190 fps
4K Ultra80 fps

Battlefield 1:

ResolutionFrame per second
1080P Ultra180 fps
4K Ultra95 fps

Does Core i9 worth buying?

After analyzing Intel Core i9 9900K in three categories, yes Intel Core i9 9900K completely justifies its price and performance and that’s why it’s 100% worth buying. In fact, according to experts, this CPU is the best one for gaming.

As Ryzen 9 is the biggest competitor of this CPU, I have compared both the CPUs by their frequency, price, and performance too. After discussing them all, I hope you understand why Core i9 worth buying and if it justifies its price?

Wrapping up:

Indisposed I have discussed does Intel core i9 worth its price? Can it give a good price to performance ratio? I have you have got answers to your questions after reading this post.
