Have you purchased the best graphics card i.e. Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080Ti but your processor is bottlenecking with it? Don’t worry, in this post, I am gonna discuss the best processors (CPUs) for RTX 2080Ti.
If you don’t use a top-class processor with extreme graphics cards like 2080Ti, then your PC can’t use the full potential of this GPU. That’s why, if you can afford 2080Ti, you should not buy medium-range CPUs like Intel core i5 or Ryzen 5.
So, let’s start our post, the best processors for RTX 2080Ti-
Hey guys, I am Jyotirmoy and I am writing this post to help you in selecting the best CPU for your ultimate GPU i.e. 2080Ti.
#1. Intel Core i9 10900K:
If you have no restriction in the budget for the best processor, just go with Intel Core i9 10900K. This is the best CPU available in the market till now and awesome with the beast-like RTX 2080Ti. Intel Core i9 10900K is absolutely next level in terms of both overclocking capacity and performance.
This Intel Core i9 from Intel comes with Intel’s LGA 1200 socket type and with 10 cores as well as 20 threads. This processor is far better than AMD’s flagship processors (costly too) and can deliver way better performance than them.
Generally, AMD is known for their aggressive pricing and budget processors but since in this post I am discussing best processors for RTX 2080Ti, so there is no reason buying a medium-ranged CPU, and that’s why I prefer Intel processors more than AMDs.
This CPU uses 20MB intel smart cache system and till now the best CPU for gaming. The average TDP of i9 is 125W. Not only that, but this processor can also run all the modern games at 4K 60fps (obviously with a good GPU like 3070) and enough for 240Hz gaming.
According to me, Intels i9 processors with coffee lake (contains K in the name) series can give better output with RTX 2080Ti. These CPUs are also superb for overclocking. The K- series processors based on Intel’s 14nm node. It supports dual-channel DDR4 RAM and can give up to 5.3 GHz frequency.
I have personally discussed with Nvidia’s team and they recommended that for their new GPUs (3070, 3080) Core i9 10900K is the best CPU currently.
However, this CPU is expensive, but also it worth buying especially if you want to play games in 4K resolution. The launch price of this CPU is $599, which is fewer than 2080Ti.
Let’s discuss some of its specifications:
- It comes with 10 Cores and 20 threads.
- This CPU can give an output of 3.7GHz which can be boosted up to 5.3GHz.
- It is based on a 14nm socket.

- Awesome for powerful GPUs like RTX 2080Ti.
- Can deliver 4K gaming.
- Most powerful processor (till now).
Now you get up to $45 off with one of the best antivirus Bitdefender. So, you can give a try.
#2. Ryzen 9 3900X:
With 12 core and 24 threads, this processor from AMD Ryzen series is the second most powerful CPU and for RTX 2080Ti. This CPU is the most powerful one from AMD and undoubtedly the second-best for hard-core gaming.
However, the price of this CPU is higher than AMDs budget CPUs like R5, but it is still less compared to Core i9. However, it can’t give performance like i9, but also it is good for up to 4K gaming.
This 3rd gen. AMD processor specially designed for gaming and really beneficial for streaming too. The base clock of this CPU is 3.8GHz and it can be boosted up to 4.6 GHz. It supports AM4 socket system and uses 70MB game caching system.
Not only that, I also love AMD because of its awesome coolers and they come with the CPUs for free. And guess what, with Ryzen 9 3900X you also get an awesome LED cooler with prism design. You can also change the color of this cooler according to your mood.
Overall, this CPU is awesome for gaming and looks like made for extreme GPUs like 2080Ti, 2080 super, 1080Ti, etc. When I tested this CPU with 2080Ti, surprisingly I get the following results-
|Games||frame per second (fps)|
|Shadow of the tomb raider||100+ in 1080P and 60-70 in 4K.|
|GTA V||100-120 fps in 1080P and 80-85 in 4K|
|Froza horizon||70-80fps in 4K.|
Let’s discuss some of its features:
- It comes with 12 cores and 24 threads.
- The base clock of this CPU is around 3.8GHz and can be boosted up to 4.6GHz.
- It supports AM4 socket motherboard.
- Ryzen 5 comes with a customizable LED prism cooler.
- It uses 70 MB game cache.

- Good price to performance ratio.
- Single-core performance is not very good.
#3. Intel Core i7 9700K:
If you don’t have a budget for Core i9 9900K, then Core i7 is also can be a very good option for you. Because it is not only cheaper than i9 but also the performance difference between them is not too huge.
So, with i7 9700K can easily handle the power of 2080Ti and can give you awesome output at a good price (not as i9 but good performance).
This i7 processor comes with 8 cores and 8 threads. It supports 3.6GHz processor base frequency and it can be boosted up to 4.9GHz. 12MB Intel’s smart cache is also applied to it.
Not only that, but it also supports Intel UHD 630 graphics with 350 MHz graphics base frequency. So, in $375, this processor is a very good option if you don’t have enough budget for i9.
This CPU can run all the latest AAA titles in 4K resolution quite smoothly. But, the thing is that if you want to fully utilize the true power of 2080Ti you must have to overclock your system. And that’s why I recommend going with the top two to touch 8K resolution (however no monitor is available:).
Let’s discuss some of its specifications:
- It comes with 8 cores and 8 threads.
- The base frequency of this CPU is around 3.9GHz which can be boosted up to 4.9GHz.
- It supports 12MB Intel’s smart cache.
- Intel Core i7 comes with UHD 630 graphics.
Check the latest price of i7 from here-
- Good performance for gaming.
- This is in the 3d position because of its price.
#4. Ryzen 7 3700X:
This CPU is a perfect competitor with Intel Core i7. If you want to buy a budget processor for RTX 2080Ti, Ryzen 7 3700X could be a very good option for you.
With an awesome price to performance ratio, this CPU from AMD comes with TDP of 65W and 8 cores and 16 threads. Seeing its price, this CPU becomes very popular among gamers.
Ryzen 3700X uses 7nm manufacturing cores and 36MB Cache.
It supports the ddr4 3200MHz memory system and AM4 socket motherboard. This octa-core CPU can give clock speed 3.6GHz and can be boosted up to 4.4GHz.
But, I don’t recommend this CPU for beast like 2080Ti because this CPU can’t give you the true power of the GPU. You should only go with this CPU if you change it after a year or two.
Till then keep on using Ryzen 7 3700X.
Specifications of Ryzen 7 3700X:
- It comes with 8 cores and 16 threads.
- This CPU can give clock speed of 3.6GHz which can be boosted up to 4.4GHz.
- It has 36MB game cache.
- It supports AM4 socket.
Check the latest price of Ryzen 7 3700X from below:
- Good price to performance.
- Not suitable for RTX 2080Ti.
- Single-core performance is not very good
In the end, RTX 2080Ti is the most powerful GPU till now and if you choose an average processor, 2080Ti is meaningless. Because it can’t give its best.
So, please choose a good processor along with the GPU. I recommend going with my top 3 CPUs to get awesome 4K 70-80fps gaming in all AAA titles.
